A store manager of a well-known brand in SL recently received this notecard from a “blogger” that contains a list of her “services”.
If you’re an SL designer and you have received a list similar to this, please TRASH IT immediately, and mute the sender. This is utter trash, and I am offended this person would dare ask for money for her low quality blogging “services”. S-C-A-M!
Read it and LOL!!

This almost doesn’t seem like an inworld resident. Her blog reminds of those odd websites you come across from time to time with links related to what you are searching for.
Not only is this utterly ridiculous, but it gives all bloggers a bad name. To charge money to promote, blog, or photograph items that they would be getting free is an abomination. Bloggers promote items they like whether they got it for free or paid for it because they like to do it, like the designers, and like the items, not because they’re going to get rich off it. Whomever this is, they are truly out of touch with reality.
I’m always happy for more activity on ruthed.com but this blogger doesn’t bother me. Sure her blog isn’t appealing, to me at least. But her prices are not insane especially considering that she will post to your personal store blog instead of her own if you wish.
Some creators just don’t want to blog. They don’t feel like writing the post and making it look good. Sure many people consider blogging fun or easy. But I bet many who make enough in SL would be happy to pay someone 200L a post, or 800L for five posts a week. A blog can do a lot for a business. You might say her blogging skills aren’t good, but at least she shows her work so the customer can judge. This isn’t a scam unless she doesn’t actually do what she says she will do after being paied.
Salvatore, you are probably assuming that she will post it as a “oh look at this adorable shirt I just got girls, you have to get it!” style post. But if you give her the benifit of the doubt, she may post it straight up as an advertisement post, listing the store, that it is a new release and that she got the item from the creator. Not all blogs are doing it just because they like it. Many blogs do do it for the money, or the money is a side benifit at least. Look at all the store blogs. Look at mother goose’s freebie blog where she shows off her full priced skins along with cheap find, or juicybomb’s blog where she advertises shapes and the makeup she makes. There is nothing wrong with profiting along with blogging. It isn’t some holy thing that should only ever be done out of pure joy of posting.
hi there, i am always happy to see here posts too =D
i agree with MAY, in a deeper view its not so far away like: to apply to put advertisement on a good visited blog for some lindens. the thought seems – be okay. it’s another question, if somebody has high photography standards and personality – to bring ppl to buy the products, of course. and if she is one of them, well … that’s not my business
. Decide yourself *wink*.
btw: to post in >taby’s chat< window thingy that she is a looser, with a link to this blog here – isn't respectful. she doesn't hurt or damage anybody, or? she just make us thinking about her idea and her person. she seems an active blogger. i mean, everybody can read her texts and service, and if somebody isn't interesting, move the nc into trash and all is fine.
nevertheless, interesting topic here! ^^
L O L!
Fashion Bloggers blog because they love the fashion and SL… WOW@ charging lindens for it… especially on such an ugly Blog.
I knew i remember that name from somewhere…. she is a Classic with Style Model… They live in a dream world and think they are what not.
honestly i can see from both sides of this. in real life i write paid advertisement blogs in exchange for cash because i need a job and i can’t find one in the dinky town i live in. i make anywhere from 2 to 15 bucks to insert a link into a normal daily blog about life. the link goes to their product website or what ever they are advertising, and i get cash. so to me its not very odd that someone would be interested in doing this in second life.
however in second life as a designer, we usually pay bloggers by giving them free items. this is how sponsorship goes in sl most of the time, and then advertisements can be bought in sidebar ads or banners on the bloggers site, so people see it as insulting when asked to pay the blogger for blogging product when they will be receiving that product free of charge.
this person’s blog is poorly written and yes they need to learn how to use paragraph breaks, i personally would not hire someone like that to present my products or write about my store. if they want to be paid to write about things i would suggest they first brush up on writing, and then secondly apply to be a writer for a magazine.
