Fashion Fest, Go visit.

A very special and kind person asked me to remove this entry because RFL is near and dear to her heart.

So go visit.

  • Thank you!! I just want people to focus on RFL and not some drama. We’re in the last couple of weeks of fundraising and that’s what matters most. We’ve all been touched in one way or the other by cancer….this is why we relay.

  • WOW, well done..you obviously are okay with bitching and betraying in the name of RFL. SHAME ON YOU AND EVERYONE SUPPORTING THIS!
And i thought you are here to tell the truth…very disappointing

  • I find this post goes directly against your tagline “it’s ugly, but it’s true”. How can I trust that you will in fact post the things that need to be said if you rescind them because it made someone uncomfortable or upset?

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe in protecting someone who lies and behaves abysmally for the sake of a ‘good cause’. The good cause doesn’t make the person any less slimy, and it doesn’t change the fact that people were deceived. And when someone is allowed to use the ‘good cause’ as a defense, they will so that they can continue to be jerks.

No one will ever have a chance to stop being a jerk if no one calls them out on it. Rescinding this post is basically like saying “oh, I didn’t really mean it when I called you on your bullshit.”

Here’s a thought – if a charity even organizer is a jerk and deceptive, how can I trust that the donation funds are indeed going to the charity I expect? With that in mind, are you still going to tell me I should just ignore that, and go pour money on them anyway?

  • She removed this article because I asked her to. We have been friends since we rezzed in SL and trust each other’s judgement. I’m a breast cancer survivor and have worked with RFL in both worlds for several years. We have two weeks left of fund raising before SL’s RFL…I felt like the article was all about drama and not the big picture.

Maybe Nikki did answer abruptly…we’ve all been guilty of doing such things. #1..I find it tacky to be asking for review items from a charity event. I’ve known and worked with Nikki for a few years now and know without a doubt that her heart is in the right place.

So..I guess if you still want to bitch and moan about this…go for it. No need to go after Gogo. She did this for me..her friend.

  • I’m with Wilma on this. There is some controversy regarding this event but I think the organizer should be given a chance to respond to the concerns. No one would want to take on an event as large as this without dedication to RFL – She deserves to be acknowledged for this fact. It’s my belief when it comes to charity we need to check our egos at the door. This whole boycott/witch hunt mentality in the long run hurts RFL. If there are concerns in regards to the organizers accountability give her a chance to address the concerns. End of rant LOL.

  • Nikki did address it on the All stars website – http://slfashionfest.wordpress.com

And now that she has – I would like to say something.

Nikki founded the All-stars team. Nikki was the team captain during all three years of the Fashion events for this team. Nikki worked on the fashion shows the last 3 years in a row. How in the world can she been stealing the event?

The event is an All-stars event (and Nikki owns the All-stars group) – just because two of the people that worked it last year left – does not mean the event should be removed. That’s downright silly! If that were the case, NO SL event would be an annual event, since very few stay on SL year after year – let alone stay in the same group.

This whole concept is like saying if Wal-mart has an annual Christmas Ball – and two of the people that worked on the ball moved on and went to K-mart – that Wal-mart is no longer allowed to have a Christmas Ball! And on top of that, saying that the two that left should be able to have a “Wal-mart Christmas ball” at K-mart!.

Tell me where any of this makes sense! This whole line of thinking is just crazy!

Nikki tirelessly works on this cause. She and her team have raised close to $3millionL to help fight for a cure (and thats just this year). All these reckless bloggers and gossipers have made a mockery of that. They’ve accused a woman that has dedicated months of her life (this year alone) in doing nothing but fighting for those that need people to fight for them and raising money for those that are facing unimaginable horrors, of stealing! With absolutely NO shred of proof or anything close to a valid position! And on top of that, theyve actually told thier half-truths and innuendos to others and others actually boycotted an event that helps so many. And you as bloggers fed into that! YOU personally caused thousands of dollars from going to people that truly need it, by flat out lying! I really hope this makes you proud. And the hits that you got on your sites (that you have never got before) was worth the damage you’ve done, not only to the reputation of a woman dedicated to helping others, but to the millions that the money raised here goes to help. You all should feel ashamed!

This is simple! The fashion event is an All-stars RFL event! It is not one or two past members of the teams event! And to claim that past members own it is just plain proposterous!

  • AND one more thing! Right on the poster for this event it says Renamed and Restructured, so claims that she hid the truth are just another LIE! Right on the poster it says it has been restructured! Right on the website it says its been restructured! There was no deception!!!!

I truly hope you dont start claiming that all events in SL that have a fashion show are now “stolen intellectual property”! Or all fashion shows that show fashion over time are “stolen intellectual property”. Can you even see how crazy that claim is?

  • Why not decide what to post and what not to post BEFORE posting it? This way avoiding that a friend of yours asks you to remove a post all of a sudden. I find it hard to trust you (No, but the blog) as Ruina said then.
Let’s fancy another post appears but oh, a friend of yours feels offended and soon the post is gone again. How can we trust it’s all “true” (in all posts here it’s difficult to see what’s true/not true but isn’t the point of this blog to let everyone see the ugly truth and make an own opinion about it?), needs to be said and kinda democratic, or will we only see what suits you and your friends in the future?
I like the idea of this blog alot, it’s interesting but a thing like this.. makes it not so great.

  • I think its ok when Ruthie decides what she wants to have on her site and what not. I think everybody should be allowed to decide about the contents of her or his internet site. But in context i find an article about Conequentialism on Wikipedia quite intresting ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consequentialism ) .
Shayariel wrote a brief respond to Shameless blog entry which i find is quite amusing: http://shayariels-world-of-sl-fashion.blogspot.com/2010/07/i-didnt-do-itits-bloggers-fault-lmao.html . I personally think that it should be allowed to speak open about problems in marketing because this is the only way to make things better.
In my comment on Shayariel’s blog entry i wonder why it took nearly a month till nikki answered on the rumors. A quick answer on the blog entry which seems to have started those rumors would have stopped those talkings a long time before the fest started (http://khalilaguna.wordpress.com/2010/06/11/saying-it-right-here-and-not-in-an-sl-secret/ ) .
